“Having time on a regular basis where it’s just you, alone with your thoughts, just observing what’s going on … is crucial to resetting your mind and having insights and successful self-reflection.”
— Cal Newport, author of Digital Minimalism: Choosing a Focused Life in a Noisy World
What is Today I Noticed?
Today I Noticed (T.I.N.) is a playful community built around our discovery that paying a little extra attention to what’s around us (and within us) makes every day richer. When you pay attention, life becomes funnier, more surprising, more nourishing, more beautiful, and more memorable. We’ve also found that taking time to notice, record, and share a single moment every day gives our always-plugged-in-brain a delicious creative break and a much-needed opportunity to step away from our noisy world.*
Plus, it’s just plain fun.

T.I.N. in three simple steps
NOTICE: As you go through your day, pay attention to what you notice. Does something strike you as weird, pretty, sad, confusing, clever, or funny? You’ve got your T.I.N. for the day.
RECORD: Starting with the words, “Today I noticed,” describe and/or draw what you’ve noticed in your T.I.N. notebook. We guarantee your writing or artistic skills are up to snuff. We repeat: Everyone can participate in T.I.N. because we are all creative geniuses in our own wonderful way.
SHARE: From your mobile phone, snap a photo of your T.I.N., and then upload it directly from your phone to the site (click here to learn more about getting started). Be sure to check out the other T.I.N. posts, and leave some friendly comments to help spread the T.I.N. love!
A word from Willow and Deborah
“We created Today I Noticed to be a shared, collaborative experience. By posting and commenting, you’re helping to build a warm, supportive, awesome community of T.I.N.ers!”
